Statement on the Stabbing Death of a Student

The Ministry of Education has sent guidance counsellors to Frome Technical and Petersfield High schools in Westmoreland, following a stabbing incident on Wednesday involving students of the schools.

The incident reportedly happened when a Ninth Grade female student of Frome Technical High School visited a male student at his home. The male student was recovering from a wound.

While the ninth grade student was at her colleague’s house a Grade Eleven female student from Petersfield High arrived. A fight ensued and the Grade Eleven student was stabbed to death.

The ninth grade student from Frome Technical has been taken into police custody.

Guidance counsellors are now counselling teachers and students at Frome Technical High and Petersfield High schools. Guidance counsellors are to visit the female student who is in jail and the immediate family of the student who was killed.
